JESUS calls us to enter the ‘narrow gate’. Not many choose to go on this path. The passage is not attractive, the way is hard and seems not so rewarding. Yet this is the honest and right way and the way that leads to eternal life.
It is not easy for anyone to be different from the majority. When Noah & his family remained true to GOD, they were only 8 in number. The rest laughed & mocked them. But when the flood came, it was death for the majority & life for the 8. We can see that it is dangerous to just follow the majority.
JESUS says in John 10:9 “I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out, and find pasture.” The path that leads us to JESUS is one that has true freedom (come in & go out), & also that is fruitful (find pasture).
To ensure we are on this path, we have to make decisions guided by GOD’s WORD (Psalm 119:11 – YOUR WORD I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against YOU ; V105 – YOUR WORD is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path).
It should also be one that is out of conviction and not convenience (Matt. 7:13-14 “Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it).
Let us pray: “Father, guide me to always enter by the narrow gate, doing the honest and right thing that are pleasing to YOU. Give me the grace to persevere till the end that I may receive your blessing & commendation, in Jesus’ name, Amen”.
